Earlier this year Steel Farm, Northumberland’s first Passivhaus, was completed by Low Energy Architectural Practice (LEAP) and JD Joinery and Building. Being both warm and draft free Passivhaus buildings offer the luxury of comfort whilst reducing energy bills for space heating by about 90% and providing excellent standards of indoor air quality (a 75% improvement upon English building regulations). Whilst such homes mark a step change in quality for both design and workmanship they remain an affordable option. These ingredients establish the Passivhaus Standard as the world’s leading low energy standard. On the 8th and 9th of November it will be the International and UK Passivhaus Open Days.
At this event you have the rare opportunity to experience the comforts of the Passivhaus standard first hand whilst learning about it from the occupiers, the architect and the builder. Whether you are looking to build a new home or refurbish and existing one this event should be of interest. As winter approaches we are delighted to announce that the owners of Steel Farm, Trevor and Judith Gospel, have kindly consented to take part in the Open Days and will be opening their doors between 10am and 4pm on both days. Visits are by booking only.
